Service Description
In this 6 week Clay course for beginners, you’ll be introduced to the world of clay. You’ll focus on three hand-building techniques (pinch, coil, and slab) and also get an introduction to everyone’s favourite, wheel throwing! In this course, you’ll learn different ways to form and manipulate clay, along with multiple glazing and decorating techniques. You’ll independently create unique work, beginning with a sketched idea and bringing it to life in a beautiful, decorative, and functional piece. ​ By the end of the course, all pieces should be completed. You’ll then reflect on the knowledge and skills you’ve gained working creatively with clay. ​ Skills taught (outcomes): Working with clay procedures, clay drying stages, temperatures, firing stages, glazing, hand-building techniques (pinch, coil, slab), introduction to wheel throwing.
